As it turned to be, a dissertation literature review is the most challenging task for the majority of students. The reason is that they actually do not know what to write in the dissertation literature review about and how to do it.
A dissertation literature review implies the thorough analysis of the books used for research. Usually the process of a dissertation literature review implies 3 main steps to be taken:
- Preliminary searching of literature sources offered in the thematic catalogues. You can use the official websites of the libraries or you can just come to the public or your university library and find everything related to your topic. Keep in mind the main requirement for the sources: they should be relevant and up-to-date. Make use of recent research papers, journals, books, etc.;
- Searching necessary information in the sources found. Many students are getting depressed when see the number of books they have to read. Actually, it is absolutely unnecessary to read all of them. Just find the items or paragraphs containing useful information and read it attentively. Thus, you will economize your time and will not do useless job;
- Analyzing the sources, making notes. To write a good dissertation literature review you cannot but synthesize information read. Notes making can also be very useful in this case. Effective notes are the way to success. Organize them in a form of visuals-tables, schemes, graphs. It will relieve your understanding of information greatly.
Finally, you will have to present what each of the researcher says about the problem you are considering and make a correspondent conclusion.
